About

Meet Randy David Newman

In my writing and ministry I aim to explore those touch points where a Biblical view of reality (what some call a worldview) sheds light on other aspects of life. I hope this website stimulates thinking about a whole range of topics. I also hope these resources prompt readers to think more deeply about scripture and more scripturally about everything else. In short, I want to explore where thoughtful faith and faithful thinking intersect.

Integrating Life and Faith

In describing my writing, I often use the word integration. Most people think it refers only to racial issues. I see it on a grander scale (and Webster’s allows for my doing so). I want to pursue the integral (whole, unified, tied-together) nature of things. I see connections between ideas, common ground between people, and overlap where others see conflict. I see God’s fingerprints in all areas of life, not just the so-called religious ones.

I’ve had the privilege of serving in ministry on college campuses, at the Pentagon, in churches, and in various academic settings. My writing has opened doors to teach the Bible and to train people in communicating their faith in dialogical and respectful ways.

Some major influences in my life have been (in no particular order) C. S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, D. A. Carson, Tim Keller, George Elden Ladd, Dallas Willard, John Stott, George Marsden, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Victor Hugo, Antonin Dvorak, Abraham Joshua Heshel, Claude Monet, and the Marx Brothers. My highest priorities are loving God, advancing His kingdom, and loving my family.

You could say that some other big deals in my life are theology, Judaism, academia, literature, music, beauty, and laughter.

Engaging with Connection Points

Morling-PanoramicLife is rich. Complex. Nuanced. A tapestry. A symphony. A bouquet. And isn’t that wonder-full! Through Connection Points, I explore the many intersections between life’s complexities and God’s fingerprints. I want to help people see the connections between God and all of life. I hope Christians will pursue connections with those around them, pointing them to the way God has woven together the world and called us to connect with Him. I want to help ordinary Christians do the extraordinary work of evangelism.

Much of the work of Connection Points flows through my writing – books, blogs, and articles. A great deal more occurs through my seminars, sermons, and workshops, especially through my affiliation with The C. S. Lewis Institute. church.

Our world is changing in polarizing and fragmenting ways. For both Christians and people of other faiths, it feels chaotic and confusing. Connection Points seeks to find ways to navigate through the changes by connecting to the Changeless One.
